Bold Humility

What does it mean to have Christ as your representative and substitute? The writer to the Hebrews says we should come boldly before God’s throne of grace. Hugh Martin explains the idea this way:

Thus may His people come to His throne with all the boldness of those who claim (are owed) a debt, and yet all the humility of those who in themselves deserve to be sent empty away, for still it is a throne of free and undeserved grace.

Bold humility. I don’t know that I’ve seen those two words next to each other before. Again, Christ is our example in what this looks like.
